Stamford University celebrates Shakespeare’s 455th birthday


Department of English, Stamford University Bangladesh, celebrated the 455th birth anniversary of William Shakespeare in a ceremonious manner on April 27 – 28, 2019. The two-day celebration included three motion picture.

Adaptations based on Shakespeare’s plays such as “The Merchant of Venice”, “Macbeth” and “Haider” (Indian adaptation of “Hamlet”) — were screened. Students also presented colourful posters with famous quotes, sketches and photographs of Shakespeare, and decorated the department.

The Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, Professor Mohammad Ali Naqi, inaugurated the event and unveiled the wall magazines containing students’ write-ups on Shakespeare — on both Dhanmondi and Siddheswari campuses. Sheikh Nahid Neazy, chairman of the department of English, was also present there to appreciate the students’ works.
